Windows 10

Hello All
Been a while hasn't it?
I have been reading blogs and commenting occasionally, but my blogging mojo is somewhat reduced.
I have been extremely busy lately and blogging has taken a back seat, but if I'm truthful I've also  been struggling with being nice!
I find myself wanting to rant about all sorts of stuff and also argue with some of the blogs I have read. Now you can't all be wrong so it must be me! So as our mothers said "If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all"
So I will ask a neutral, non combative  question... Has anyone loaded Windows 10 and what do you think of it?
Brief post for me eh?
Gillx

  2. Sorry you feel in rant mood - don't worry - it happens to us all now and then and no - it is not you, it is just the general state of things. Sometimes if you can be bothered it is better to get it off your chest I think, but usually I can't be bothered when I feel like that as I like to treat blogging as a pleasure.
Yes I have got Windoes 10 on the advice of my son and my grandson in law, who told me it was no different from windows 7 but it was important to keep updating to keep abreast of updates and such. So I took the plunge about a week ago and pressed yes to it.
There certainly are differences - I get on to my e mails more quickly, somehow it all seems a bit brighter. But there are also drawbacks and I do keep having to call on my son, who presses a few buttons and hey presto I have what I want and yes, it is easier to get than the old way - but I do have to relearn it and as one gets older relearning gets harder. So, in short, I think I shall be pleased with it. What do you think?

    2. I'm a pretty positive person, so if I leave things they usually sort themselves out and if I'm honest I don't really like to read post by others that are all about how wrong everyone is, and how blameless they are.
The jury seems to still be out re. Windows 10 .. I'm still not too sure!

  3. It's a flippin' nightmare, Gill. My camera app suddenly decided not to work and STILL won't whatever we try. Win 10 updates every day and is using up all our broadband allowance: only half left and 3 weeks to go ....ggrr...
And it's definitely not just you who feels grumpy, don't start me on the subject of 'Lady' C !!

    1. ooh heck. That doesn't sound good re. Windows 10. Do you connect direct from camera to PC?
I've been ranting about Donald Trump and Katie Hopkins myself!

  4. Col changed to 10 and lost a few things but as he doesn't do important things like blogging, it wasn't too much of a problem. I keep reading about people changing and having difficulty so I'm sticking on old fashioned 7 at the moment.
Go On - have a good rant - get it off your chest! I'm missing your news so hope you get re-mojo-ed soon

  5. Rant away, we all need to do it sometimes! As for Win10, broadly speaking I quite like it (have had it for couple of months now and got used to it). However, since upgrading, it won't let me post pics on my blog using IE, I have to change to Firefox to do that. Odd, since I never had any problems posting pics in IE before! Also, every time Win10 updates, it causes a Critical Error - big scary box saying that, and nothing will work on my touchscreen. I've learnt now (after much googling) that I have to switch off/reboot several times in a row and it eventually sorts itself out. Pain in the bum though seeing as there are lots of updates.....

    1. Blimey that sounds a bit of a faff. I presently have Windows 7 which I'm comfy with, but how long will they support us using it I wonder?

  6. I know nothing about windows 10, but I do understand how frustrating it is when you start to feel like a 'grumpy old woman'. I have found myself highly irritated by many a thing recently and it's not always easy to resist the urge to moan. We would all understand you having a good old rant if it would help :)

    1. I think I am struggling with being irritated by some bloggers too, not just "the real world" Though goodness knows there's plenty going on out there to get cross with!

  7. DB has Windows 10 and suggests, if you can it, buying Computer Active, issue 464, dated 9th - 22nd December 2015. It comes out every fortnight but this particular copy covers Windows 10 and lots of its problems, as does its previous weeks.

    1. Thanks for the heads-up on that. A friend of ours buys that. I wonder if he has kept his copy so that we could copy it.

  8. Haven't downloaded it yet, hoping they'll work out all the bugs before the free year is up. I will download it because it's supposed to be very similar to windows 7, which I liked I have windows 8, which I hate, so it has to be better. You can rant all you like, it's your blog! I don't know who 'Lady C' is, is this an English inside joke!!!lol

    1. I was told not to bother with Wins 8 and I'm glad we didn't as we have hearn lots of negatives about it. Like you I'm aware that it is free at the moment, so need to make a decision.
Lady C is a "Celebrity" who was in "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here!" (do you know it?) I believe she is a transgender male who hails from the aristocracy and has written Royal biographies. Apparently she was a horrible contestant, who continues to build on this reputation now that she is known!

    2. Lady C is not transgender, but was raised as a boy by her parents even though she is actually female. (All be it a very odd looking lady!)

  11. I abandoned Windows back in XP (which was quite good, I thought, but I had other issues with Windows). Been a Linux gal ever since, and I'll never go back! LOL

    1. We liked XP and found 7 even better. I have no knowledge of Linux. Is it particularly good if you publish like yourself?
