If she didn't live over in the iOM I would probably take her flowers, for same reason.

I tell my son not to take me to lunch, etc but he buys me some flowers and a card.

My Mum tells me not to bother but I take her a card and a couple of bits of nonsense, not costing much like an Aldi tinned candle, some jelly sweets and some white Aldi chocolate. We all think it is an excuse for shops/businesses to get money out of people who can't afford it.Campfirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06573797205145907726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8953248892638598159.post-69751067771503719662013-03-03T13:13:33.105+00:002013-03-03T13:13:33.105+00:00I agree - a lot of these 'celebrations' ar...I agree - a lot of these 'celebrations' are commercially driven. However I don't mind the ones like Mothers' Day that were always part of the church calendar; I don't live near my Mum so I like the opportunity to make a bit extra of a fuss of her! Your re-upholstering of the chair looks great!Everyday Life On A Shoestringhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06038009981638541163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8953248892638598159.post-31894026141756961792013-03-02T23:59:00.809+00:002013-03-02T23:59:00.809+00:00I SO agree with you about Mother s Day. My children all call me sometime during the day and wish me happy Mothers Day (I told them no cards) and we have a chat and a laugh.
We used to pick a bunch of daffs from the garden on Mothering Sunday and gave our mum a hug and wished her happy Mothers Day.
Nice job on the chair - I have two down in the basement waiting for some attention.
I have a couple of ikea bags that I use for haul stuff around.lizziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17345707661431587475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8953248892638598159.post-21562557622347318252013-03-02T23:01:28.377+00:002013-03-02T23:01:28.377+00:00Great job on the upholstery!

Often we all just get together for a meal because not much says I love you like spending a day with someone. If I give Mama a gift I aim for something she needs or something she will see everyday...for example: a rose bush instead of a bouquet. My children usually give me a token gift or if we're not visiting family we'll take off for an outing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8953248892638598159.post-31984417409365895052013-03-02T20:40:32.262+00:002013-03-02T20:40:32.262+00:00Good idea with the sacks ... Must look out for something similar.
And No ... we don't celebrate Mothers Day either.. its a poor do when you need a special day to show your Mother you love her.

Vicky x
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14710224174192867236noreply@blogger.com
