However it's got me thinking as to why at home I only ever buy common types of fish. Cod, Haddock, Sea Bass, Salmon and Mackeral. When I'm aboard Ling and Hake are always near the top of my list. I need to change my thinking on this. Love making fish pie with all my odd pieces of fish, infact still use the recipe I learnt at school 30 years ago. Never thought about cutting the fillets on the diagonal so thank you it explains a lot ! Chickens eating fish ? Never given any to my girls, seems I've something to learn about that too. Great post. Iv'e instructed D not to bring them home !
We love ling, the only problem with it is that it has skin like dog fish/shark, which can be very leathery to cut, even for my good filleting knives, which is why I often use kitchen scissors ! I like to prepare fish similarly and freeze it, too.

I had to look up the names of the fish to make sure I knew what we were talking about. :-) In our area, flounder, trout, and things of the sort are easy to catch. About the only fish I'm not fond of is cat fish....and that is because cleaning it is horrible!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8953248892638598159.post-43602723132694828272013-02-10T21:07:49.350+00:002013-02-10T21:07:49.350+00:00Amazing !!
